Everything you need to know about serving in the Community Initiatives team.
Community Initiatives
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8b
Citylife Community Initiatives Inc. is an organisation of community focussed people committed to building our local community of Wollongong and Shellharbour. We do this through the empowerment of people, and by providing affordable and high quality services. We always endeavour to provide a professional and caring service open to all generations and cultures that seeks to be inclusive of all people. Our organisation will be known for its excellence in service delivery and for its commitment to empowering people, to build a stronger community for future generations.
Citylife Community Initiatives has a strong value around creating community: spaces of belonging where all are welcome to belong, contribute and to be heard; where each person has a voice and there is a culture of inclusion, shared meaning and understanding. We wish to create a place where there is hope for a more positive future for all, individually and in community together.
βA leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they we say: we did it ourselves.β ~ Lao Tzu
The Essentials
Purpose
Building Community, Empowering People
Our mission is to build community and empower people by engaging with organisations and individuals through:
β Networking with other like organisations
β Programs that empower individuals through support and encouragement
β Providing information and education to enable individuals to make informed choices about service provision
Expectations
Team members are valued at Citylife Community Initiatives and we work to create a culture of inclusion for all. It is expected that volunteers will be inclusive in their behaviours and also abide by the Citylife ethos. Volunteers are expected to adhere to all legislative requirements relating to the organisation, and to follow our guiding principles as outlined in the Community Initiatives Volunteer Handbook which you will receive when you volunteer.
We ask volunteers to sign a contract that outlines their job role and that they have read policies and procedures. The volunteer handbook is your guide to all things Community Initiatives.
Compulsory
Induction
A legal requirement we have as a Church is to run all new volunteers through an induction process. It sounds very formal but is actually really helpful and will give you a smooth entry into our volunteer family at Citylife.
Part of the induction process is making sure you have gone through the content on this page and on our Serve page. After that, you will be given a link to our Volunteer Induction page and catch up with Jill to run through the information relevant to you.
WWCC
Although the Community Initiatives team isnβt directly involved with kids ministry we want all our volunteers at Citylife to have an up-to-date WWCC. See below link to apply for yours and once you have been approved, send through the details to office@citylife129.com.
